CD Storage Alternatives — Part 1
CD storage alternatives ranging form
CD paper sleeves to Tyvek CD sleeves
If you are like my family, you have CDs,
CDRs, and DVDs in cases, in sleeves, in boxes, and stacked on top of the
desk. Some of mine are even under the desk. What to do with all of those
CDs? What is the best storage method?
There seem to be almost as many CD storage
alternatives as there are types of CDs these days. The right CD storage solution
depends on many factors such as how many CDs you have and estimate you will
have, where you plan to store, and whether they are for short term or long
term CD storage.
Here are just some of the CD storage alternatives:
CD Paper Sleeves
Pros — They’re thin and don’t take up a lot of
space. They are inexpensive.
Cons — They’re thin and don’t
offer much protection. Not easy to store on shelves, etc.
Cardboard CD Sleeves
Pros — They’re
thin and don’t take up a lot of space. They are inexpensive.
Cons — Not
easy to store on shelves, etc.
Plastic CD Sleeves
Pros — They’re
thin and don’t take up a lot of space. They are inexpensive.
Cons — They’re
thin and don’t offer much protection. Not recommended for long term
storage; they have been known to stick to CDs and pull off CD labels.
Tyvek
CD Sleeves
Pros — They’re thin and don’t take up a lot
of space. They are inexpensive.
Cons — They’re thin and don’t
offer much protection. Recommended for long term CD storage.
