1 or 2 Color Imprint File Preparation

Imprints are good for 1 and 2 color printing small areas less than 20% coverage, no bleeds, halftones or screens. Generally used for logos, return addresses, or messages like "Do Not Bend", etc.

We accept high resolution jpg files and "Vector" files in eps format, ai format, or pdf format for mailer imprints only. For all other printing use the 4 color artwork file preparation instructions.

Please use Adobe Illustrator when possible and make sure to use the "Outline Fonts" command.

Images will be placed a minimum of ½” from the edge of the mailer

You can either use a template or email us at sales@buskerdoo.com with placement instructions. Please include your last name and order number and positioning instructions.

Indesign
All files should be prepared using our template files. Template files for standard formats are available on our website. Any other specialized templates can be supplied.

Document Preparation
Color
All documents should use either the CMYK color space or Pantone Spot Colors. RGB or LAB colors may not convert as expected. Any Pantone Colors Selected should be converted to a CMYK color if it is to be printed as a process color.

Document Setup-Indesign CS3
Your Document should be set up with .25" Bleeds; use the inside .125" for image bleeds, the outside .125" will allow fold lines and page numbering to print.

Layout-Indesign CS3
Place all items in your Document as desired. Make sure that any areas that extend off the edge of the document bleed by 1/8".

All Folders should be set up with page 1 as the front and page 2 as the back. On some folders, the folds are not symmetrical; this will insure correct alignment of the folds.

Books can either be set up as single pages or in Printers Spreads. Books over 24 Pages must be set up as single pages. See the chart for proper layout of printers spreads. This will set up the document properly for binding. The pages must be laid out from left to right as in the chart. For example: in an 8 page book, in spread 1 page 8 is on the left and page 1 is on the right.

For books over 24 pages layout the document as single pages. Select Facing pages in the Document Setup Dialog, this will allow you to view the page spreads as they will appear in the final print.

Output-Indesign CS3

The file should be exported from Indesign as a
PDF/X-1a:2001. This will insure the correct settings for CMYK and Pantone spot color output. Under the File Menu select Adobe PDF Presets>[PDF/X-1a:2001]

In the PDF Dialog> Marks and Bleeds Select Crop Marks and Page Information. The Offset should be set to .125 in. This will keep the Crop Marks out of the image area. Check Use Document Bleed Settings. When checked this should read 0.25 in for all Bleeds. Select Export.

View or Print the Exported PDF file. Everything should appear as you expect it to print.
